• What is microneedling?

Also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy - skin needling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin.

This stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping to firm, smooth, and rejuvenate the skin.

It effectively treats concerns like fine lines, acne scars, large pores, stretch marks, and pigmentation. Suitable for most skin types and areas, it improves texture and tone, leaving the skin fresh, glowing, and more youthful over time.

  • Does it hurt?

At SKYNN, we understand everyone’s comfort levels and pain tolerance differ.

For your first skin needling session, we usually recommend going without numbing cream to assess your skin’s response and maximise results. However, numbing cream is available at an extra cost if preferred.

Your comfort is our priority, and we’re happy to tailor the experience to suit your needs.

  • What is the ideal interval between treatments?

For the best outcomes, it is advisable to have skin needling sessions every minimum 4 to maximum 6 weeks.

Please note that we will not conduct a treatment if it has been fewer than 30 days since your last appointment.

  • How long is the downtime?

Downtime for skin needling typically lasts between 24 to 72 hours, depending on individual skin sensitivity and the depth of the treatment.

After the procedure, you may experience redness, swelling, and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn, which gradually subsides.

Minor bruising or facial swelling, if they occur, can last up to a week but are generally rare.

Most clients can return to their regular activities within a day or two, although it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and harsh skincare products during the recovery period.

Following proper aftercare instructions will help ensure optimal healing and results.

  • What will my face look like straight after the treatment?

Right after skin needling, someone's skin may appear red and slightly swollen, resembling a mild sunburn.

There may be some pinpoint bleeding in areas where the needles penetrated more deeply.

As the initial redness subsides, the skin might feel tight or sensitive.

Over the next few days, it’s common for the skin to show some flaking or dryness as it begins to heal.

Overall, while the skin may look a bit irritated immediately after the procedure, these effects typically diminish within a few days.

  • Are there any potential risks to consider?

Skin needling is considered to be a safe procedure with minimal risks.

At SKYNN, you are in safe hands and you will also receive customised serums or boosters that are infused into the skin in each treatment to assist with your concern. You will always be informed prior to commencing treatment what serums or boosters will be used on your skin so you are aware.
